Program Overview
While Peace Corps Romania consistently updates it programs to fit the changing needs of the Romanian communities it partners with, the last couple of years have been focused on maximizing each volunteer’s impact. While PCRO will finish its transition away from non-English Education sectors, it will be simultaneously piloting the new Peace Corps Response program.
Peace Corps Response is tailored to fit the needs of NGO’s and governmental organizations that need short-term, highly skilled assistance to plan, implement and design projects. Response Volunteers are all former Peace Corps Volunteers who have already served two years and are willing to spend up to 1 year with a Romanian organization focusing on a pre-determined project. Romanian organizations are able to apply for volunteers with specific credentials, approve the volunteer they will receive and design their job description. It represents a much more focused approach to NGO and organizational development in Romania, and will be a valuable tool in Peace Corps Romania’s portfolio in the years to come.
By combining the freedom for organizations and Response Volunteers to determine the nature of any partnership, Peace Corps Romania is able to place experienced Volunteers exactly where they are needed.
